Joker of 70s
As a lover of an arthouse, I sometimes make a retrospective analysis of classic mainstream cinematography. I came across the movie “Hunter Will Get You” when digged into the films of Bruno Cremer — the most charismatic Megre in the history of cinema.
Everything is arranged exactly for that time: the main character, who wears fashionable clothes, drives one of the best cars, a smart villain who’s not easy to catch, manhunt, drugs, gunning, etc. I remember the 2006 when my father bought a movie collection of Belmondo, I asked who’s this guy?
“You don’t know Jean-Paul Belmondo?” — and he spoke so delightfully about him as we can speak today about the actors of Batman or James Bond. You can find out what happened in Soviet Union: speculation of movie tickets, the crowd in the queue in front of the cinema theater for similar films, and every “soviet guy” dreamed of being like Johnny Lefon. So everything is clear with Belmondo.
But Belmondo didn’t bother me. It turns out, Bruno Cremer played here one of his honorable roles, with which (up to Megre) we will associate him. And if Belmondo was Batman here, then Cremer was definitely able to play through to the levels of Joker, whose character accociated today with one of the best villains ever.
